Synopsis
A washed-up detective chases a homeless outlaw to restore his glory.
Jesse van Moof, a washed-up and broke detective, becomes obsessed with a newspaper story about the “Crazy Cowboy,” a homeless outlaw who ambushes Thuisbezorgd couriers and steals their food. Convinced this bizarre criminal will restore his glory, Jesse questions couriers, builds a case, and prepares a trap. But when his plan fails, he stumbles upon the Cowboy by chance and chases him to his hideout. There, Jesse discovers the Cowboy is a laughing, wordless drifter who cannot even explain himself. Jesse brutally beats him, only to learn from police that the Cowboy is insignificant, a relic with no place in the modern world.

Co-Directors
Toy-Gun is co-directed by Emre Karabacak and Eycan Nural. Karabacak is a Turkish artist based in Amsterdam, working across photography, video, sculpture and design. He treats the visual language of his work as seriously as words, making art to express rather than impress, pieces meant to linger and quietly stir. Toy-Gun carries that instinct into moving image.
The Making Of
A broke, washed-up detective pins his comeback on a wordless drifter who robs couriers in a cowboy hat. Toy-Gun follows its odd pair through the night city until the case dissolves into something closer to farce, and quietly, to something sadder.
